WHO WE ARE....

SMAGA- Who we are , What we do........

Membership of the Association is via an annual subsription that also covers site membership into the NSALG.

This offers a valued in-road to a nationally recognised society that lobbies government - both local and nationally, on issues of allotment protection and use & provision, as well as with SMAGA ourselves , who are a voice for the allotment sites affiliated within the area.

SMAGA continues to build on it's relationship with the council on all matters that affect the running, provison, maintenance and services to societies borough wide. It has built up a relationship, over many years with SMBC and is recognised by them as an important player in the allotment community.

There are regular meetings at the Stockport Town hall to which societies are invited to attend and where a member of the council allotment team is present to take and field questions of concern.

The actual 'association' is undergoing a re-structure and re-branding excercise to better reflect the proffessional and quality services it can offer.

These services vary from reduced rates on certain products to Health and Safety information to members. Along with technical advice / general assistance on applications for grant fundings for societies, constitutions etc.

Grants are available from many sources and SMAGA has the in house knowledge to assist in applications and on how to best place your project and present it to these types of organisations as well as the advice on what to include and what not to do!

SMAGA is a voluntary organisation and therfore relies on voluntary support , this however in no manner reduces the impact SMAGA has as an association on Stockport Borough Councils management of the allotment sites and is in regular consultation with them on our members behalf.

Meeting Dates are in the Calendar section of this site along with any other pertinant dates relevant to the allotmenting movement in Stockport.
